Annual Air Quality Governance Lekgotla
The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) announces the 15th Annual Air Quality Governance Lekgotla scheduled from 04 – 05 October 2021. The Lekgotla is an annual event that provides an opportunity for intergovernmental coordination and collaboration where government officials share experiences and opportunities, debate issues and develop ways and means to ensure the effective implementation of the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act (No. 39 of 2004) (AQA). The 2021 Lekgotla will be held virtually due to the current lockdown regulations.
The Air Quality Governance Lekgotla focuses on amongst others; air emission management, ambient air quality monitoring, redefining and enhancements of systems/ processes and tools that are in place giving effect to various provisions of the Air Quality Act. Hence, this event provides an opportunity for government officials to learn from one another, share best practices to enable them to deal with air quality issues in their jurisdictions.
The DFFE invites all government officials in national, provincial and local government departments working in air quality management to participate in this important annual event. Air Quality Officials who would like to present at the Air Quality Governance Lekgotla should forward their presentation information to Ms Agnes Makau at email@example.com before 31 August 2021.

Air Quality Multi-Stakeholder Workshop
The Air Quality Governance Lekgotla will be followed by the Multi-Stakeholder Workshop on Wednesday, Thursday, 6 October 2021. The Workshop will be hosted in collaboration with the National Association for Clean Air (NACA) and all affected and interested air quality management stakeholders are invited to participate. The Workshop is aimed at discussing issues of common interest with various stakeholders in the air quality fraternity and the topics for the workshop will be announced when available.
A draft programme for the Air Quality Governance Lekgotla and the Multi-Stakeholder Workshop will be made available by end of August 2021.
