The Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA) announces the 14th Annual Air Quality Governance Lekgotla scheduled from 1 – 2 October 2019 at Protea Hotel Marriot Technopark, Stellenbosch in Western Cape. The Air Quality Governance Lekgotla is an annual event that provides an opportunity for intergovernmental coordination and collaboration where government officials share experiences and opportunities, debate issues and develop ways and means to ensure the effective implementation of the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act (No. 39 of 2004) (AQA) in their respective jurisdiction.
The Air Quality Governance Lekgotla focuses on amongst others; air emission management, ambient air quality monitoring, redefining or enhancements of systems/ process and tools towards the implementation of AQA. Hence, this event provides an opportunity for government officials to learn from one another, share best practices to enable them to deal with air quality issues in their jurisdictions.
The DEA invites all government officials in national, provincial and local government departments working in air quality management to participate in this important annual event. Air Quality Officials who would like to present at the Air Quality Governance Lekgotla should forward their presentation information to Ms Agnes Makau at email@example.com before 31 July 2019.
AIR QUALITY MULTI-STAKEHOLDER WORKSHOP
The Air Quality Governance Lekgotla will be followed by the Multi-Stakeholder Workshop on Thursday, 3 October 2019. The Workshop will be hosted in collaboration with the National Association for Clean Air (NACA) and air quality management stakeholders are invited to participate. The Workshop is aimed at discussing issues of common interest with various stakeholders in the air quality fraternity and the topics for the workshop will be announced when available.
A detailed programme for the Air Quality Governance Lekgotla and the Multi-Stakeholder Workshop will be made available by end of August 2019.
